Heroes Behind the Scenes

The Heroes Behind the Scenes Initiative will be Compassion by Design's signature recognition program, created to honor the extraordinary individuals whose compassion, dedication, and service often go unseen. Family caregivers, certified nursing assistants, home health aides, nurses, social workers, therapists, long-term care professionals, first responders, volunteers, and other elder-care champions will be recognized for the essential role they play in improving the lives of older adults and strengthening communities.

As a featured highlight of the Golden Years Summit, scheduled to launch in November 2027, the Heroes Behind the Scenes Initiative will celebrate excellence in caregiving through a national awards and recognition program. Individuals will be nominated by their peers, employers, families, and community members for demonstrating exceptional compassion, innovation, leadership, resilience, and lifelong commitment to serving older adults.

The initiative will include an inspiring awards ceremony, caregiver and healthcare professional spotlights, tribute videos, storytelling sessions, and special recognition experiences designed to celebrate the people whose work often takes place behind the scenes. Honorees will have the opportunity to share their experiences, inspire others, and highlight best practices that strengthen the elder-care profession.

Beyond recognition, the Heroes Behind the Scenes Initiative will help elevate public awareness of the critical contributions made by caregivers and elder-care professionals every day. It will encourage excellence, foster pride within the caregiving workforce, inspire future generations to pursue careers in aging services, and reinforce the importance of compassionate, person-centered care.

More than an awards program, Heroes Behind the Scenes will become a national movement dedicated to celebrating compassion in action, recognizing unsung heroes, and ensuring that those who devote their lives to caring for others receive the appreciation, visibility, and respect they deserve.
