Compassion by Design, Inc. (CBD) is a Maryland-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to transforming the caregiving experience through compassionate education, advocacy, practical resources, and community support.
Who We Are
Founded by Treceia Bazemore, Compassion by Design grew from a simple but powerful belief: every person deserves to age with dignity, every caregiver deserves support, and the professionals who care for others deserve tools and resources that help them provide compassionate, person-centered care.
As the nonprofit affiliate of Purpose by Design, Meetings and Events, LLC , CBD brings together mission-driven programming, education, strategic partnerships, community engagement, and extensive program-development experience to create meaningful and sustainable impact.

Compassion by Design is dedicated to improving the lives of older adults, family caregivers, and healthcare professionals through education, advocacy, practical resources, and compassionate support. We promote dignity, respect, preparedness, and quality of life by strengthening the people, systems, and communities that care for aging adults.

We envision a future where empathy is at the center of aging and caregiving—where every older adult is treated with dignity, every caregiver feels seen and supported, and every healthcare professional is empowered to provide compassionate, person-centered care.
Why Compassion by Design Exists
Our Story
Compassion by Design was born from lived experience—not theory or trend, but the reality of loving and caring for an aging parent while navigating systems that can feel overwhelming, fragmented, and painfully impersonal.
That caregiving journey revealed challenges families face every day: difficulty finding clear guidance, the emotional weight of advocating for someone you love, uncertainty about where to find trustworthy resources, and the lack of empathy that can sometimes exist within systems intended to support older adults.
It also illuminated an important truth: caregivers are often expected to give endlessly while receiving far too little support in return.
Compassion by Design exists to help change that reality.
We create programs, partnerships, resources, and community experiences that restore dignity, preparedness, empathy, and support to caregiving. We believe aging and caregiving are shared human journeys—and no one should have to navigate them alone.
