Planning for the Future: Care, Legacy, and Resilience

Registration is now open for Legacy Forum #6: Planning for the Future: Care, Legacy, and Resilience, taking place virtually on December 22, 2026, from 5:00 PM to 6:30 PM ET.

Caregiving is about more than meeting today's needs—it's also about preparing for tomorrow. Thoughtful planning can provide peace of mind, reduce uncertainty, and help ensure that your loved one's wishes are honored while protecting your own well-being. Whether planning for changing care needs, legal and financial matters, or unexpected emergencies, taking proactive steps today can create greater stability and resilience for the future.

Legacy Forum #6 serves as the culmination of the Legacy Forum Series, bringing together the knowledge, tools, and resources shared throughout the program. Participants will explore strategies for long-term care planning, advance care planning, legacy conversations, and building resilience for whatever the future may hold.

As part of every Legacy Forum, participants will also engage in our Prepared Caregiver Corner—a dedicated 20-minute interactive segment that provides practical emergency preparedness strategies for caregivers and older adults. During this month's Prepared Caregiver Corner, participants will learn how to incorporate emergency preparedness into long-term care planning, safeguard important legal and medical documents, and create a family preparedness plan that supports resilience before, during, and after emergencies.

During this interactive session, participants will learn how to:

  • Plan for changing caregiving needs over time

  • Understand the importance of advance care planning and healthcare decision-making

  • Organize important legal, financial, and healthcare documents

  • Initiate meaningful conversations about care preferences and family wishes

  • Develop strategies that strengthen family resilience

  • Create a long-term caregiving roadmap

  • Integrate emergency preparedness into future care planning through the Prepared Caregiver Corner

Designed for family caregivers, older adults, healthcare professionals, home care providers, financial and legal planning professionals, and community advocates, this forum provides practical guidance to help families prepare for the future with confidence.
